There is money in waste. Chennai-based Saveetha Engineering College's NEN E Cell learnt this from Exnora Homes, an eco-friendly housing project. The cell recently launched a campus company that runs a vermi-composting unit. It plans to sell manure at Rs. 10/kg to its college and neighboring nurseries. With a free supply of garden waste from campus, and cement debris for construction, most expenses are cut. What's more, the campus gardener volunteered to run the unit! "We've realized this is a great high-margin little business," says a delighted NEN E Leader Sharanya.
